Rough draft of the Christmas letter:
Very Merry Christmas to all our friends and family!
As the year draws to a close we pause to reflect on the events of the last twelve months.
Great things have happened to our family.
It would be easy just to say that we are happy and well and leave it at that.
Never one to oversimplify things however, I feel inclined to elaborate.
After all, everybody is dying to know the mundane details of our lives.
Little has changed in our family this year.
As of this date, there have been no major crises or disasters.
But of course there is still time for things to take a turn for the worse.
If they do, you'll be the first to know.
And your support will be appreciated.
Christmas is a cherished time in our family.
Life provides few such occasions for togetherness and giving.
It was difficult this year when we explained to the children that Santa Claus isn't real.
They were sad.
Overall though, I believe it will be a positive experience.
Rainer is already showing a deeper appreciation for the act of giving.
It appears he is looking forward to what he will give more than what he may receive.
Sadly, he still hasn't given up on receiving a $300 Pleo robotic dinosaur.
Virtually every day is a new adventure with our kids.
Usually each of them surprises us with an astute observation or cute idea.
Lately they have been playing well together and we enjoy watching them interact.
Vigorously though they may argue, they are good friends.
After all, this is what being a family is all about.
Happiness prevails in our lives.
You wouldn't believe how much fun we have together.
Maybe we will invite you on one of our fun family vacations so you can see for yourself.
Enjoying eachother is what it's all about.
Never forgetting how much your loved ones mean to you is the key, I think.
Merry Christmas from the Hurtado's
So what do you think bloggers? Is it fit to print? Can you do better?

Although this doesn't really represent our family (need to cut out some of the happy shmappy suff) I admire your literary attempt at including your phobia.

You have a phobia about kids shaving? Just kidding.
You should do a letter, where you say everthing has gone horribly wrong...you make up stuff, and then at the end you say, suprise...aren't you glad this wasn't true.
Or you make extrodinary things your kids have done...I liked that one the best, my buddies kids were nobel prize winners etc.
I have a phobia of commenting in yor wife's blog....so we do have some more things in common.

I was trying to include a sentence like, "Virtually all genealogies include nerdy aunts." or "Visually appealing girls intentionally nag almost surely."
A bit more obvious now eh? It'll never be printed if I can help it.
hahhahahhahahha.

I continue to wonder what people think when they see that I've included Our Letter. I'll continue to write it, if for no other reason than that it's the only time I write down what actually happened in my life. (Blogs don't count...mine doesn't, anyway. That's why I don't include my blog address in our contact information -- it's not a perpetual Christmas letter.)
Children good.
Everything is fabulous.
Really, really fabulous.
Virtually everything.
I only had to take the kid in for one
Xray.
that's the holiday spirit right there! nice work!
Usually we try to have these letters
Together before the Holidays.
Except this year of course!!
Reality set in and we were
Under the gun.
So Merry Christmas...Late, uh oh!!
cool :)
